STEM and Entrepreneurship in Primary Schools

About SEPS

The primary years of schooling are critical for developing student interests in STEM areas and fostering entrepreneurship. The STEM and Entrepreneurship in Primary Schools (SEPS) program is a professional learning program which, through a series of interactive workshops and events, provides teachers with core understandings of STEM and Entrepreneurship education in primary years, with the aims to:

  • Build and improve teacher capability and innovation in the development and teaching of STEM and entrepreneurship programs in primary schools in the Geelong region.

  • Raise awareness among primary school students of the value of STEM and entrepreneurship.

  • Increase participation among primary school students in STEM activities and engagement in entrepreneurial challenges.

The SEPS program is designed and delivered by the Deakin STEM team, consisting of Lihua Xu, Coral Campbell, Linda Hobbs and Chris Speldewinde. The first SEPS program was delivered in 2018 to teachers from 11 primary schools in Geelong with great success. We are proud to offer this program again in 2020 to another cohort of teachers from 11 primary schools in the region.
