About

Meow-llo! I’m Ellee - the STEM Cat. I’m here with my friends, The Super-STEM 3.

Together, we’ll guide you along a STEM journey of exciting problem-solving and super fun activities.

The Girls as Leaders in STEM (GALS) program within Deakin’s School of Education is committed to fostering young girls’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and equipping them with the skills they need for the jobs of the future.

We know that women are still significantly underrepresented in the STEM workforce, so together with the generous support of The Invergowrie Foundation, we continue to empower young girls as leaders and entrepreneurs in STEM.

The Deakin STEM team, consisting of Coral Campbell, Linda Hobbs, Lihua Xu, Deya Chakroborty, and Krissy Hill, is immensely proud to be delivering a program that challenges gender-bias and supports the aspirations of young girls pursuing a rewarding career in the STEM industry.

The program has been delivered in Geelong, Warrnambool and Mildura, engaging so far with approximately 60 schools, 60 teachers and 240 girls between the ages of 11-14.

GALS resources for teachers and students are available online. These include Problem Cards, which can be used for classroom group activities, and Modules that include further activities, presentations and discussion points. You can access them by following the GALS Resources button below.
